Dean Ralph Long. 76, of Mankato, died at home June 30, 2013. Born March 2, 1937 in Mankato, he was baptized at the Methodist Church, Mankato. His Childhood home was in North Mankato, two blocks from the river where he loved to hang out.

He attended Mankato High School and served in the Air Force 1955-1958. He married Connie Kopf in 1968. They were the first caretakers at Lake George Blue Earth County Park

Dean was employed at Brown Drug, Mankato, then as salesman at The Old Red Barn, Madison Lake, and AAA, Mankato.

Children loved Dean and he loved them in return. He served as Trainmaster for Lutheran Boy Pioneers and Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, in the 1970’s and 1980’s.

His love of the outdoors, developed in his childhood, continued throughout his life. He hunted and fished the many area lakes. His valued friend, Jim Robbins, shared these activities over 30 years.

Dean was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family meant the world to him.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel with Chaplin Jerry David officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
