Marilyn Dean Ek was born on July 28, 1932 in Olivia, Minnesota, to Merrill and Beulah (Dean) Warner. She graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Leland 'Lee' Ek on January 17, 1953. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

Marilyn enjoyed many years of giving piano lessons, designing costumes and props for her son Jon's music programs, sewing and cooking. Over the years she was also very active in her church with such activities as Altar Guild, Women's Circle, Study Club, Book Club, and Quilting. Her greatest love, however, was her family.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Leland, of Mapleton; their four sons and daughters-in-law, Jon and Suzanne of Mapleton, Lee and Cindy of Lakeland, FL, David and Dorothy of Colorado Springs, CO, and Brian and Keri of Cambridge; eight grandchildren, Sarah Ek and fiancée, Chris McDowell, Kjersten and husband, Brandon Mathis, Courtney Ek and fiancée, Phillip Cribbs, Kari Ek and fiancée Michael Bletsch, Jason Ek, Andrew Ek, Kaitlin Ek and Brianna Ek; great-granddaughter, Jasmine Chacon; great-grandson, Sawyer Mathis; two brothers and spouses, Kenneth and Marcelle Warner of Mapleton and Bruce and Cheryl Warner of Milaca; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dean Warner and sister-in-law, Delores; daughter-in-law, Nancy Ek.

The family is especially grateful for the prayers and visits of Pastor Vicki, the doctors and staff at the hospital, and the loving care given by all of the Mayo Hospice workers.
