I hope everyone is ready for the fall weather – I think it’s finally here! Find time for your family to go out and enjoy the beautiful scenery in our area. Going to Minneopa Park by the falls is an outing for my family each fall ~ it’s a great way to spend a day!
Our Fall Fundraiser starts Monday, October 12 and will end October 23rd. Watch for info to come soon!
We will be saying goodbye to Nicole (Toddler Room) on October 16th. We wish her luck with all her future endeavors! I will keep you updated as the hiring process is finalized in early October!
As summer comes to end, so does a large part of our family outside time. I know how hard it can be to find indoor activities that don’t revolve around the TV for our children! I have left information sheets in each room about TV and Your Child. It has some great ideas on non-TV activities for your family, other info on how TV can affect your child and alternative gifts/activity boxes. Look online on the site listed for more information on this topic.
Pictures have arrived! Please see me or Wendy to view them. Info will be with the pictures on pricing-you can buy one sheet or the whole package! Please be sure to fill out the form if you are checking them out of the office!
Please see the next page of the newsletter for information updates on illness policies and H1N1.

Have a Happy and safe Halloween!

Happy fall everybody!! I think fall started before the official day this year. I have already seen many trees with yellow and orange leaves and leaves all over the ground. Bring on the cooler weather and jackets!

I would like to thank everybody that got their flu vaccination this year. We have already had many kids out sick. Please make sure you are following the policy that was sent home and keeping your children home if they are sick. H1N1 vaccinations will be coming out in mid-October! Keep an eye out for a clinic and think about getting vaccinated. Children under 10 will need to get 2 vaccinations 21 days apart this year!

With the beginning of fall please make sure you are dressing your child in weather appropriate clothing. The classes will still try to get outside as much as possible. It is also a good time to check their cubbies and make sure they have fall/winter extra clothes that fit.

Fall conferences are coming up soon. Check each classrooms newsletter for the next month or two to see which week they are offering conferences. All conferences are held between 1:00-3:00. If those times don’t work for you make sure you set up a separate time with your child’s teacher.

All of our work study students are back in full swing. Please introduce yourself to them! Don’t forget that all work study students will be wearing gold t-shirts this year so you can easily recognize them in the crowd.

Our fall fundraiser is coming out soon. Pizza Pete was here during the summer picnic so we could sample some of the items for sale. Everything tasted great and I can’t wait to order some stuff for myself. Please try and sell as much as possible. The order will be here in time for the Thanksgiving holiday!!

Happy Fall!
Wendy

Dear Families ~

Happy Halloween!! I love this time of year. The changing colors and of course harvest. It is a very busy time of year for my family as we are getting the crops out and to the elevator. This year I even get to drive the combine! It should be great fun!

With the changing of the season please remember to take a look in your child’s cubby and change out the summer clothes for some warmer fall and winter clothes. Also with the changing of the season and the colder weather, comes the cold and flu season, so just a reminder to please take your child’s blankets home at the end of every week. Thank you!

With Halloween being this month and on a Saturday the children are going to get a chance to Trick – Or – Treat in the community center on Friday October 30th around 9 – 9:30. We will dress the babies in their costumes and then we will walk around and show them off. It is fun and gives everyone in the center a chance to see all the great costumes.

We are looking for new family pictures to hang around the room so if you could please bring in a current one that would be great. Thank you!

Have a Spooky and Happy Halloween!!

Happy October!!!!

Wow October! Time just goes by too fast. Everything is changing so much outside, including the weather! We will still be going outside as much as possible so PLEASE make sure that your child has warm clothes to put on for outside time. It’s not too soon to bring in a hat and gloves. If you have an extra pair to keep at school that would work best, please make sure to label everything you bring in!

On Friday the 30th we will be celebrating Halloween. The children will be walking around the building to show off their costumes around 9:30 a.m. Please bring in your child’s costume and we will change them after breakfast. Conferences will be coming up November 9th – the 13th, watch for more information.

Sadly the 16th will be my last day. I have enjoyed getting to know all of you and your children. I have loved the opportunity of working with so many wonderful people. I will truly miss everyone and all the fun I had when I was here.

I wish all of you the best!

The fall weather has finally arrived… The fresh crisp air feels great! Please make sure to dress your child for the weather, as it is still a little chilly when we go out in the morning. Also, make sure to replace the clothes in your child’s cubby for fall weather.

Conferences are this month. They will be October 19-23 from 1-2:30. A sign up sheet will be out soon. If you would like a conference, please sign up!

We are trying to set up a field trip to Grandma’s Little Acre sometime in October. No date has been set but information will be out as soon as we know more!

There will be a Halloween party on Friday, October 30th at Kids’ Corner. We will be starting the party as soon as all of our friends are in their costumes. I would assume that will be around 9-9:30. Please bring in a trick-or-treat bag or bucket for your child to put their candy in.

If anyone has any extra shopping bags at home, we are always in need of them for diaper changing.

Remember that Show-N-Tell is on Thursdays; please make sure that is the ONLY day that you are bringing a toy in for your child, besides a stuffed animal for nap time. We are starting to have issues about whose toy is whose and friends fighting about it or its getting lost.

Work study has started again so you may be noticing girls in gold shirts around the room. Please do not hesitate to ask them their names or to ask Alisa or Kelly, we would be glad to introduce you to them.

Dear Families-

Can you believe that September is already over? It sure has been a busy month with everyone adjusting to their new schedules! It seems as if all of your children are loving school, and enjoy being here in the afternoon. They all come running off the bus to greet Derick and I, and are excited to spend time outdoors burning off all of the energy they have stored up throughout the day.

Reminders:
• Please remember to check your parent cubby which is located on the blue sign in and out table. This cubby will contain important information that should be looked at in a timely manner!
• If your child is not going to be getting off the bus on any given day, please call and let a staff member know!
• Fridays are our “Free Days.” Please leave toys from home at home, unless it is Friday.
• Sunscreen and water bottles have been placed in your child’s cubby; please take them home until spring.
• We will be going outside as much as possible during the next few months, please send a coat or sweatshirt that can be left in your child’s cubby/locker for the chillier afternoons.
• Our wish list is posted on the sign in and out table. If you would like to contribute an item to our classroom, please glance at the list to see what we need!

Rec Corner Days in October:
• October 14th: Scavenger Hunt (Early Release Day)
o Weather permitting; we will be heading outside to do a scavenger hunt. Once we are done, we will come back indoors to create a collage with all of the items we found.
• October 15th: Pumpkin (morning) & Costume (afternoon) Party
o We will be carving pumpkins, roasting pumpkin seeds, and making pumpkin pie in the morning. In the afternoon we will put on our costumes and go “trick or treating” around the building. If you would like, you may bring a treat to pass 
• October 16th: Shrine Circus
o We will be heading up to the Target Center in Minneapolis. The bus will leave at 8:30 and return around 2:00pm.

If you have any questions about the Rec Corner days, please feel free to ask me. I will do my best to answer any of your questions. There will also be a white board in the room that will be dedicated to Rec Corner, so please take the time to glance at that for upcoming information.
