Helen Rita Schloesser Olson, died at the age of 84 at her home at Morrison Manor in Lakewood, Colorado on April 16, 2024.

The graveside service begins at 10 am on Friday, May 10th, 2024 at St. Henry Catholic Church in rural LeCenter, MN. The Celebration of Life and luncheon follow at St. Henry’s church hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Feeding America in memory of Mom and our family values.

Helen was born in LeCenter, MN on April 12, 1940. She married Vern Olson in 1960 in Mankato, MN. They later moved to Kasota, MN and all of their five children graduated from St. Peter High School. They started a plastic manufacturing business in Kasota, Rolco Inc., which they ran for many years. In 1994, at the age of 54, Helen pursued her lifelong dream of a college education and graduated with a degree in Family Business Management from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. She then received a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul at the age of 64. Vern and Helen became snowbirds, enjoying their home in Sun City West, AZ in winter and in St. Peter, MN in summer. Helen relocated to Colorado in 2020 to be near family.

Helen is survived by five children: Cari Olson, Mankato, MN; Sally Thompson, Boise, ID; Pam (Mike) Lally, Lakewood, CO; Brian (Sandy) Olson, Orr, MN; and Peggy (Brad) Rae of Elizabeth, CO. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Jake and Dan Thompson, Boise, ID; Conor Lally, Lakewood, CO; Karen Lally, Oakland, CA; Jessica Olson, McCall, ID; Stephanie Olson, Hager City, WI; Jennifer Wokson, Lakeville, MN; Nicole Schaffer, Hastings, MN; Richard Labey, Virginia, MN; Robin Smith, Lakewood, CO; and Alex Hyder, Aurora, CO. She was also blessed with sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sisters, Bernadine Singer, Sun City, AZ and Evie Tambornino, LeCenter, MN.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, John Schloesser and Mary (Lang) Schloesser, her husband, Luverne “Vern” Olson; her brothers: Sylvester Schloesser, Alvin Schloesser, Richard Schloesser, Herb Schloesser, Clarence “Butch” Schloesser and her sister, Bernadette Engel.
