Dizziness can often be associated with what is known as our vestibular system, or inner ear. Our inner ear is responsible for detecting our head and body’s motion. If it is not functioning as it should you may experience a sensation of spinning and/or unsteadiness, often referred to as vertigo. These sensations may be noticed with things such as sitting up from bed, rolling in bed, looking up, or turning your head suddenly. Physical therapy is a very effective tool to treat some of the most common causes of vertigo.
