Richard Francis Korbel Obituary
Richard Francis Korbel, age 88, of New Prague, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1 from 9:30am-1:30pm at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30pm with Fr. Tom Niehaus officiating. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.

Richard was born on May 8, 1934 in Kilkenny. He was united in marriage to GeorgeAnna Horish on September 23, 1953 at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. He worked as a farmer all his life and also worked on road construction, as a truck driver and also drove road grader for the township. He enjoyed farming, listening to old time music, dancing, his dog, Frankie but most of all spending time with his family and giving his grandkids tractor and lawnmower rides.

Richard is survived by his children, Bob (Janelle) Korbel of Lonsdale, Deb (Don) Skluzacek of Montgomery, Michelle Filipek of Faribault, Colleen Huss of St. Peter, and Sandy (Jim) Bratsch of Montgomery; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Matt O’Connell of New Hope; sister-in-law, Janet Korbel of Kilkenny; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Richard is preceded in death by his wife, GeorgeAnna; mother, Emily Korbel; siblings, Donald Korbel, Milton Korbel, George Korbel Jr., Dorothy O’Connell; sisters-in laws, Joyce Korbel and Evelyn Korbel.
