Carrie Rose Simon Obituary
Carrie Rose (Sticha) Simon, age 47, of Montgomery, Minnesota passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 2, 2024 after a courageous battle against cancer.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with Father Tom Niehaus officiating. There will be visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague.

Carrie was born on May 10, 1977 in New Prague to Ruth and Francis "Fritz" Sticha. She graduated high school in New Prague and worked as a welder, first at Chart in New Prague and then Dri Steem in Eden Prairie, where she became accomplished in her work and was appointed lead welder in her department. She worked at Dri Steem for nearly 20 years, stopping only because of her diagnosis.

In 2007 Carrie met the guy who would become her husband, Russ Simon. They were united in marriage in 2013 in Montgomery, and blessed with two sons, Lucas and Liam. She was extremely proud of the life she and Russ were building and poured everything she had into her children.

Carrie was an exemplary mother, daughter, and friend. Among her many attributes, she is remembered for her “mile-wide” smile, love of adventure, quick wit and deep compassion for those she loved. She always brought the fun, and always ensured everyone was in on the joke. When she met new people, she transitioned from stranger to friend in the blink of an eye.

Carrie loved spending time with her friends and family, and especially cherished moments with her two sons. Some of her happiest times were family vacations, holiday gatherings, snowmobile rides, boating on the lake, game nights, or joining the boys for a splash in the pool. Every birthday was specially planned with a theme of the boys’ choosing, and she was always right in the middle of the fray – taking pictures, cutting cake, singing, opening presents, commandeering a pinata… she found joy in every part of it.

Carrie had many lovable quirks. She was a dedicated fan of country singer George Strait, and would move mountains to attend one of his concerts. Her TV viewing habits ranged from Golden Girls to Big Bang Theory, Friends re-runs, and real crime documentaries. She was notoriously indecisive, due largely to her caring heart – she never wanted her decisions to negatively impact others and so she often over-deliberated them. She had endearing nicknames for her close family and friends, including the “Fabulous Five,” her tight-knit group of girlfriends from high school that remain close to this day.

Despite being dealt a devastating hand in early 2022, Carrie fought bravely and admirably over these past two years to remain with us for as long as possible. She leaned heavily on her faith and deeply appreciated the love, prayers and support of her kind and generous community. Her loss is felt profoundly by many.

In addition to her husband and sons, Carrie is survived by her parents, Fritz and Ruth Sticha of New Prague; brothers, Brian (Lisa) Sticha of Le Center, Scott (Theresa) Sticha of Lonsdale, and Steve (Bobbie) Sticha of Chanhassen. She is preceded in death by her sister, Jody Stepka.
